‘We attract investments even in crisis’ Morawiecki: This is just the beginning of good news

Poland will have fully electric and hybrid cars; we are attracting investments even during the crisis, wrote Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Facebook on Tuesday (29 Dec 2020) referring to FCA Poland’s investment in Tychy.

On Tuesday, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) announced that its factory in Tychy, Silesia, will produce new hybrid and electric cars of Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo brands. Series production of the first of the three new models is to start in the second half of 2022.

In his Facebook post, Morawiecki pointed out that on the 100th anniversary of Fiat’s presence in Poland, within the Katowice Special Economic Zone, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles PL will expand and modernise its factory in Tychy.

‘New production capacity based on the latest technologies means that fully electric and hybrid cars will be built in Poland. The future of the automotive industry and the Polish economy is being created in our country. We attract investment even during the crisis. I hope this is just the beginning of good economic news for Poland!’  – he wrote.

He pointed out that despite the ongoing crisis, Poland and its economy are doing quite well.

‘One of the lowest GDP declines in Europe and positive forecasts from economic institutions for next year. We do everything we can to protect as many workplaces as possible and to help entrepreneurs. Our vision of Poland is a vision of an ambitious country with a steadily growing position – a welfare state of solidarity, based on the most modern technologies of the future’ – he said.

He added that to achieve this vision, it is necessary to invest and to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the ongoing restructuring of supply chains and changes in the global economy.

‘That is why, in this demanding time, the information about further strategic investments in our country, which Fiat Chrysler Automobiles PL has just announced, is so welcomed’ – stressed Prime Minister.

FCA Poland announced in a communiqué that the aforementioned Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo cars will be produced using the most advanced drive systems, including fully electric drive.
