Letter to the President of the United States on the occasion of Independence Day

“On the occasion of the National Holiday of the United States of America – Independence Day – on behalf of the Polish Nation and my own behalf, I extend to you my best wishes for prosperity and health at this special time, and my warmest congratulations to the entire American Nation,” wrote President Andrzej Duda to the President of the United States Joe Biden.

“In addition to traditional and centuries-old ties of friendship, Poland and the United States are linked by commonly shared values, strategic partnership, alliance commitments and brotherhood of arms. It is also impossible not to mention the many of my compatriots who have found their second home in the United States. The Polish American community, involved in political life on both sides of the Atlantic, constitutes an inseparable link between our countries and nations.

Over the past years, we have developed cooperation in many areas, including bilateral economic relations, modernization of the Polish Armed Forces, energy – including LNG and nuclear energy – and on the forum of the Three Seas Initiative, which has brought measurable results.

Today, in the face of the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as many other serious threats of economic and political nature, I want to assure you that Poland, as a reliable ally, is and will be working in solidarity with the United States for the peace and prosperity of our homeland, as well as the entire transatlantic space and the international community. In this context, our recent meeting at the NATO Summit in Brussels, which confirmed the convergence of our views on the security of the Alliance’s eastern flank, was very important to me,” wrote Andrzej Duda.

Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States. It commemorates the Declaration of Independence of the United States from 4 July 1776. This day is associated with fireworks, political speeches, parades and picnics.
