    “Chopin and his Europe”

    The Chopin Competition, the “Chopin and his Europe” Festival, Chopin Concerts in the Royal Łazienki Park, exhibitions, and recitals at the Fryderyk Chopin Museum are opportunities to listen to Chopin’s music in Warsaw, said Monika Beuth-Lutyk, spokeswoman for the Warsaw City Hall.

    “Undoubtedly, the most important musical event of this year is the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. Due to the pandemic, it has been postponed from 2020 and will be held in October 2021,” it was reported.

    In the final stage of qualifying for the Competition, the jury selected 87 participants from among over 150 pianists from all over the world. Among them were: 22 Chinese, 14 Japanese, 16 Poles, 7 citizens of South Korea, 6 Italians, as well as representatives of Armenia, Taiwan, Canada, Cuba, Latvia, Russia, Spain, Thailand, the USA, Great Britain, and Vietnam. The eliminations could be watched live on the Internet and in the mobile application.

    The ceremonial inauguration of the Chopin Competition is scheduled for October 2. The competition will culminate in the award ceremony with a concert of the winners – on October 21 at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera. Beuth-Lutyk informed that “the city subsidizes the competition with PLN 650 thousand, it is also the founder of the 6th prize for the final participant (EUR 7 thousand) and awards (EUR 4 thousand each) for the four finalists”.
