– Soldiers of the Territorial Defense Force (WOT) learn soldierly specialities, but also love for their homeland, patriotism – says Second Lieutenant Paweł Jóźwiak, former European champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and two-time Polish champion in MMA.
New episodes of “Interview with the Hooligan” are back on TV Republika after the summer break. “I am proud to serve in the Territorial Defense Force (WOT), where I can use my experience of 32 years in combat sports,” says Second Lieutenant Paweł Jóźwiak.
In the program, he talks about the service of territorials. During a pandemic, they did his darkest work. Second Lieutenant Jóźwiak took part in the evacuation of the Nursing Home in Kalisz.
“The state has done something unique, smart. A great project was created. The pros are huge for everyone because we gain someone who has military training but also can help with car accidents or various tragedies. After all, soldiers are trained to do that. They have the knowledge, which is quite expensive, but since they are trained as soldiers, it is acquired at the expense of the state,” he says.
On the development of these troops, he says:
“Right now, there are about 30,000 of us, hopefully, there will be more. We want to grow in numbers and quality. The brigade in Wielkopolska is such a company, which has about 3,000 people and runs smoothly. It’s very well organized. It’s something special”.
Two of his children are already serving in the WOT. Daughter Sara has just become a European vice-champion in MMA.
The “Interview with the Hooligan” is a co-production of Radio Poznań and Republika TV. You can listen to it on Radio Poznan on Saturdays at 4:00 PM. The television premiere is every Sunday at 10:00 PM on Republic Television.
