Michał Kwiatkowski Wins Clasica Jaen After Solo Attack

Michał Kwiatkowski of Ineos Grenadiers secured victory at Clasica Jaen after a powerful solo breakaway. The race, known for its challenging gravel sections called caminos de olivos, saw the Polish rider claim his first win in nearly 18 months.

Decisive Attack

The 2014 world champion made his move 12 km from the finish, dropping Spanish rider Ibon Ruiz (Kern Pharma) and American Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates). Kwiatkowski crossed the line in Úbeda with a 31-second lead over Mexico’s Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates) and 46 seconds ahead of Ruiz.

“This victory means a lot after a tough season filled with injuries. I sacrificed a lot to win today,” said the 34-year-old. His win marks the 32nd triumph of his career and a significant comeback.

His previous victory came on July 14, 2023, during the Tour de France, where he conquered the Grand Colombier summit in the Jura Mountains.
