Daniel Olbrychski received the European Cinema Ambassador Award on Friday at the CineFest International Film Festival in Miskolc, Hungary, announced Elvira Kubik.
This prize is awarded for contributions to the popularization of European cinema.
“The choice fell on Olbrychski because he was very popular in Hungary over the last decades and even before the political change, and besides, Polish films were of great importance to Hungarian viewers, for example
He emphasized that Olbrychski’s artistic output was of great importance to viewers not only in Eastern Europe but also around the world.
He also added that Olbrychski starred in several films by the well-known Hungarian director Miklos Jancso.
