“We are looking for Polish Shakespeare”. The competition launches

The Hieronim Konieczka Polish Theater in Bydgoszcz and the Polish Center of the International Association of Theaters for Children and Youth ASSITEJ announce the 18th National Competition for Young Playwriters “We are looking for Polish Shakespeare”.

“The recipients of this unique competition on a Polish scale, from its first edition in 1984, are young artists (12-21 years old) who try their hand at drama and playwriting,” wrote Aleksandra Rzęska from the Polish Theater in Bydgoszcz.

As she explained, “the main goal of the competition, following the mission of the authors, Prof. Halina Machulska and Prof. Maciej Wojtyszka, is the education of children and youth by art”.

It was emphasized that “the competition plays in the 18th edition of the Competition are to be in the form of a monodrama (a performance for one performer), inspired by the slogan Human voice”.

The texts should be sent together with the applications by November 1, 2021. The rules of the competition can be found on the websites: www.teatrpolski.pl and www.assitej.pl in the tabs concerning the competition.

“The prizes include digital publication of the winning works and a presentation in the form of a stage sketch on the stage of the Polish Theater in Bydgoszcz,” it was written, adding that “the organizers will also provide in-kind prizes”.
