On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Cyprian Kamil Norwid’s birth, Poczta Polska (Polish Post) issued a stamp worth PLN 3.30 with the image of the poet made in the woodcut technique by Józef Łoskoczyński, the company reported in a Friday release.
As stated, the author of the stamp design is Jarosław Ochendzan. He presented a colorful image of the poet made in the woodcut technique by Józef Łoskoczyński. In the lower part of the stamp, Jarosław Ochendzan placed the name of the issue: “200th anniversary of the birth of Cyprian Kamil Norwid”, and in the lower-left corner – the value: PLN 3.30 and the inscription: Poland. On the FDC envelope there was a fragment of the writer’s manuscript, and on the date stamp his handwritten signature.
The stamp was issued in a circulation of 120,000 on fluorescent paper, and its format is 43 x 31.25 mm. The stamp has been in circulation since September 24, 2021.
September 24 is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Cyprian Kamil Norwid, and 2021 was established by the Sejm as the Year of Norwid. As part of its celebrations, a new museum dedicated to the poet was opened, and scientific conferences, concerts, performances, and exhibitions are held throughout the year.
