    Competition “Roots and Wings”

    The National Institute of Rural Culture and Heritage has announced a competition for the best MA and PhD dissertation on the culture and heritage of rural areas in Poland. The competition will evaluate PhD theses defended in 2017-2021 and MA theses defended in 2019-2021.

    Dissertations may be submitted by authors, supervisors, reviewers, research units, cultural institutions, and non-governmental organizations. The patronage over the competition was taken by, among others Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister of Education and Science prof. Przemysław Czarnek, the Polish Committee for UNESCO, and the National Center for Culture.

     

    The main tasks of the National Institute of Rural Culture and Heritage include researching, popularizing, documenting, and expanding knowledge about the culture and cultural heritage of rural inhabitants. 

     

    One of the forms of implementation of this mission is to support scientific research on the culture and heritage of the Polish countryside, which is to be served by the competition for the best MA and PhD thesis – “Roots and wings”.

     

    The competition aims to popularize the results of original scientific research devoted to the culture and heritage of rural areas, support young scientists and their supervisors and encourage them to continue their research in this field.

     

    Applications can be submitted until November 30, 2021.
