Artur “Waluś” Walczak is dead. Strongman fails to awaken from coma after PunchDown5

Today Artur “Waluś” Walczak died in Wroclaw clinic. During the PunchDown5 show, the strongman suffered a stroke and was put in a medically induced coma, from which he was unable to wake up. A person close to the strongman confirmed the information about his death.

Let’s recall that on October 22nd in Wroclaw, Poland, the PunchDown5 gala took place. This is a so-called sport, in which participants face each other and, without taking their feet off the ground, punch each other in the face with an open hand.

As a result of a duel with the master of this “discipline”, Dawid “Zaleś” Zalewski, Artur Walczak suffered a stroke. His brain was severely damaged so doctors put him in a drug coma. At the end of November, after several unsuccessful attempts to revive the Gniezno strongman, he was scheduled to be transferred to a specialist clinic. A fundraiser and auction group appeared online, with the money raised going to help fund the man’s healing process.

According to unofficial information, an attempt was made on Thursday to transfer the injured man to a special centre.

On Friday, it was reported that Artur Walczak died in a clinic in Wrocław. In an interview with Głos Wielkopolski, a person from “Waluś'” close environment confirmed it.

Back in October, the Wrocław prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation into PunchDown5. The legality of the gala and whether safety procedures have been followed or not are currently being checked.
