The 40th anniversary of the introduction of martial law is coming up. On this occasion, in the former Detention Center at Rakowiecka 37 Street in Warsaw, a series of events will commemorate this anniversary. One of the main events during the ceremony will be the meeting of former political prisoners in the People’s Republic of Poland. The main celebrations will take place on December 13.
A cyclical event at the Museum of Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the People’s Republic of Poland (Polish: Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa – PRL) is “General’s Night”, celebrated every year on the night of December 12-13.
“For years, we are inviting formerly repressed and anti-communist opposition activists from various political environments. Dominika Świątek, Paweł Piekarczyk and Leszek Czajkowski will perform for them. We will also watch the film
by Majka Dłużewska, followed by a discussion with lawyers – defenders in political trials in PRL. At midnight we will take part in a holy mass celebrated by Father Tomasz Trzaska, our chaplain,” emphasizes Jacek Pawłowicz, director of the Museum.
On Monday, December 13, the main celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the introduction of martial law will be held at the Museum.
