PGNiG lowers natural gas prices for business customers by a quarter

On January 14, 2022, a 25% reduction in gas prices for PGNiG’s business customers became effective. The reduction will be granted automatically to all customers billed for their gas consumption based on the prices specified in the currently applicable Gas Price List for Business. Bakeries, hairdressers and service businesses, among others, will be able to take advantage of the automatic reduction, which will be in effect until the end of February 2022.

“We have made several changes for Poles to mitigate the effects of the gigantic increases. We implemented two Anti-Inflation Shields, amended the Energy Law, took care of individual consumers and sensitive entities. European law prevented us from adding to this a group of entrepreneurs. Fortunately, we have companies like PGNiG Retail that remain in state ownership. I commissioned that as soon as the opportunity arises, action should be taken to provide relief to businesses as well. It has been successfully done. They will have lower prices starting today. As the situation on the market settles down somehow, PGNiG Retail can take this into account,” points out Jacek Sasin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Assets.

“Taking advantage of the discount does not require customers to take any action, including entering into additional contracts. Prices of gaseous fuel, reflecting the reduction, will be automatically applied in reckonings”, emphasises Paweł Majewski, President of the Management Board of PGNiG SA.

“The reduction, introduced for business, is a response to the currently changing gas prices on the Polish Power Exchange, where our company is supplied. Prices were still at record levels in December and have now fallen, but the market situation is still very unstable and a return to an upward trend cannot be ruled out. That’s why we’ve decided to introduce a reduction that will provide real help to businesses such as bakeries, hairdressers and service companies. This solution will allow Polish entrepreneurs to reduce their gas bills by a quarter” – said Henryk Mucha, President of the Management Board of PGNiG Retail.

The automatic 25% reduction of gas prices for business customers will be effective from January 14 to February 28, 2022, and will apply to prices included in the “Gas for Business” price list No. 9, which is currently used by PGNiG Retail in reckonings with customers. The company diligently analyzes the market environment and will take further actions accordingly.
