Polish Boxing Association Joins World Boxing, Leaving IBA

The Polish Boxing Association (PZB) has officially left the International Boxing Association (IBA) to join World Boxing, a federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This unanimous decision was made during an Extraordinary Congress held on Saturday, following a thorough analysis of the global boxing landscape.

    Securing Olympic Futures

The PZB highlighted that this move aims to safeguard the future of Polish Olympic boxing and ensure participation in key events, including the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. President Grzegorz Nowaczek emphasized that World Boxing offers opportunities for stable development and international success, signaling a “new era” for Polish boxing.

This transition aligns with the IOC’s call for federations to support a new global boxing authority after it ceased recognizing IBA in 2022 due to governance and financial concerns. The IOC directly organized the Olympic boxing events in Paris and warned that boxing’s inclusion in Los Angeles 2028 hinges on such reforms.
