A political solution to the Middle East conflict and opportunities for Poland

The Deputy Minister Jablonski met with the European Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process Sven Koopmans on Friday (Jen 21). “While the prospects for a political solution to the Middle East conflict are still very distant, the EU should continue its efforts to bring the parties together. Poland will become more involved in the peace process – assured Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński during his meeting with the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, Sven Koopmans.

The talks concerned the current situation in the Middle East and the possibilities of Poland joining the initiatives in the region.

“We are committed to political actions that will bring us closer to resolving the conflict, but also to cooperation on projects that improve the quality of daily life for Palestinians,” Deputy Minister Jabłoński assured, pointing out that Palestine is a priority recipient of Polish aid in the Middle East. Sven Koopmans thanked for Poland’s political activity in the Middle East Peace Process (MEPP) and the implementation of aid projects on the ground.

A day earlier in Warsaw, he met with representatives of Poland, Belgium, Finland, Latvia, Romania, and Slovenia, who had come to Warsaw for talks as part of the so-called “small group on the Middle East peace process,” which serves to coordinate efforts among EU member states. During his visit to Warsaw, the EU Special Representative also met with the Secretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland Jakub Kumoch, with Head of the Foreign Service Arkady Rzegocki, and with the Polish-Palestinian and Polish-Israeli Friendship Group at the Sejm. He also gave a lecture to the students of the Diplomatic Academy.
