    Chopin's Birthday at the Museum

It is a mystery whether the greatest Polish composer was born on February 22 or March 1. For this reason, the Fryderyk Chopin Museum celebrates the artist’s birthday all week long! Tickets at a promotional price – only PLN 1. There will be daily piano recitals, gifts for visitors are just a small part of the attractions that await guests in the Gniński Palace.

The anniversary of Chopin’s birth occupies a special place in the calendar of events of the Fryderyk Chopin Museum. The celebration of the pianist’s 212th birthday also promises to be extremely interesting, for both adults and children. Birthday week will begin on February 22. Admission to the Museum and each of the events will cost a symbolic PLN 1, and visitors will receive musical gifts with recordings of Chopin’s compositions.

Guests will enjoy a piano recital at 6 p.m. each day. Concerts will be performed by young, acclaimed pianists, participants of Polish and international competitions (including the 18th Chopin Competition). Before the recital at 5:15 p.m., the Museum invites you to a half-hour guided tour of the permanent exhibition.

There will also be educational events for children and adults. On February 22nd (at 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m.) children will listen to the newest book “Frycek and a giraffe” from the “Little Chopin” series. The book will be available for purchase at a special price with a 30% discount. On Saturday, February 26, we will hear the fairy tale “His Lordship Senieur Pichon” musicalized in excerpts. A day later, a lecture “Chopin’s Birthday” will be held as part of the meetings of the “Chopin Salon” series.

Every day you will be able to visit the temporary exhibition “Chopin. The Power of a Symbol” and two special displays “Chopin Manuscript” and “From the Museum’s Treasury”. The birthday week will culminate with two concerts by 18th Chopin Competition winner Bruce (Xiaoyu) Liu at the National Philharmonic on March 1 and 2.
