An important vote in the UN concerning the war in Ukraine

Today, the UN General Assembly will hold a very important vote on a resolution calling for an unconditional halt of Russian aggression against Ukraine – said Krzysztof Szczerski, Permanent Representative of Poland to the United Nations in New York. He added that each country would express its opinion on this war, and everyone would be able to see it.

On Monday, the United Nations General Assembly held an “emergency special session” on Ukraine. A vote on the motion for a resolution on the crisis in Ukraine is scheduled for Wednesday. The emergency special session’s resolutions are non-binding, they are considered to carry political weight as they express the will of the wider UN membership.

“Today, there is an important vote in the UN General Assembly on a resolution calling for an unconditional halt of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine; every country in the world has an equal voice, every country will express its position on this war, and everyone will be able to see it,” wrote Szczerski on Twitter.

The last emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly was in 1982. It aimed to resolve the Syrian-Israeli conflict.
