    No more raw materials from Russia in Poland! Prime Minister Morawiecki: Poland ranks among the first in Europe

    “Poland is one of the first countries in Europe to get rid of Russian gas, oil and coal,” announced Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki after a meeting with Alphabet President Sundar Pichai.

    “Sundar Pichai and I were talking about a change in the energy market. (…) We want to get rid of Russian gas. Poland will be one of the first countries in Europe to do so,” said Prime Minister Morawiecki.

     

    He recalled that Poland would also stop buying Russian oil and gas.

     

    Morawiecki added that the Head of Alphabet (the parent company of Google) always stresses the need for further investment to be based on a low-carbon economy. 

     

    “We are building this economy,” the Prime Minister added.

     

    At the same time, Prime Minister Morawiecki announced that Google was making funds available to refugees.

     

    “Thank you for Google’s commitment to providing funds for refugees,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki 

     

    During a press conference with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the Google Campus in Warsaw, Sundar Pichai stressed that since the beginning of the war, the company had focused on supporting humanitarian efforts, providing reliable information and fighting misinformation.

     

    “To date, we have provided more than $35 million to organisations supporting refugees, including $10 million in grants to NGOs that help refugees coming to Poland,” announced the chairman of the technology giant.

     

    He added that the three weeks ago, a space for NGOs providing legal and psychological assistance to refugees had been opened on the Google Campus in Warsaw.

     

    “Today we are announcing new grants for refugees with disabilities for a Polish NGO that also organises humanitarian aid,” said Pichai.

     

    He also announced that he would invest an additional USD 10 million in new partnerships with civil society organisations to support fact-checks.

     

    Prime Minister Morawiecki announced a conference for donors of aid to Ukrainian refugees.

     

    “After the Easter holidays, we will organise a conference of donors, both from countries and companies, and Google has agreed to participate in it,” Mateusz Morawiecki announced.
