Stanisław Kowalski was born on April 14 1910 in the village of Rogówek. Despite his age, he was a Polish supercentenarian masters athlete who, at the age of 105, became the oldest ever competing athlete in the newly formed M105 age division (ages 105–109) in sprinting, shot put, and discus throw.
“In his youth, he worked as a railwayman and foundry worker. His debut in official athletics competitions took place at the age of … 104. Before that, he had never trained for track and field events or any other competitive sport. Over the years, his only constant physical activity was commuting to work by bicycle,” TVP Sport wrote.

What is interesting, the medical examination carried out after Kowalski’s 100th birthday showed that the biological condition of his body and sports stamina were estimated at 60 years old man.
He was honoured with the Gold Cross of Merit by Bronisław Komorowski in 2015 for promoting sport and a healthy, active lifestyle.

On 14 April 2020, he became a supercentenarian, which means a person who has reached the age of 110 years. Today, the President of Świdnik Beata Moskal-Słaniewska together with the citizens pay their last respects to the athlete.
