Why shouldn’t people show many profiles at the same time? A vernissage in Szczecin

Inspired by Lawrence Durrell’s “The Alexandria Quartet. Justine”, the exhibition “Why shouldn’t people show many profiles at the same time” presents art in different styles and perspectives to oppose the simplification of our reality. The vernissage takes place on April 7th in the Szczecin Philharmonic at 7 P.M.

“The Alexandria Quartet” series tells the same story of a few people living in Alexandria from four different points of view through four books. The “Why shouldn’t people show many profiles at the same time” exhibition aims to achieve the same goal: to show the same thing through different perspectives, in various media forms and focusing on unique aspects. It’s also a protest against uniformity and lack of depth when discovering the world.

The exhibition includes artworks from Zofia Gramz, Bogna Burska, Agata Cieślak, Wojciech Dada, Katarzyna Górna, Dorota Podlaska and Rafał Jakubowicz. It was curated by Stanisław Ruksza, a professor in the Art Academy in Szczecin and the director of TRAFO Art Substation in Szczecin. He also curated such expositions as “Je brûle Paris!” (Paris, 2015) and “The Wall. Art Face To Face with Borders” (Milan, 2015).

The official opening of the exhibition will take place on April 7th, 2022, in the Szczecin Philharmonic (level 4 Gallery) at 7 P.M. It will be open on Fridays (4P.M – 6 P.M.) and Saturdays (12 P.M.– 4 P.M.) until May 21st, 2022. The entry is free.
