On April 12th, 2022 Poles celebrate a chocolate day! Actually, this sweet celebration takes place twice a year in our country – how sweet, indeed!
World Chocolate Day, sometimes called International Chocolate Day, or simply Chocolate Day is an annual celebration of chocolate. It occurs globally on July 7th.
Some people believe that it is due to the introduction of chocolate in Europe in 1550. In Poland, we celebrate it twice a year – on April 12th and September 4th.

The second date is strongly connected with the E.Wedel company which is one of the most popular chocolate brands in Poland. E.Wedel has a long history of business activity in Poland and it’s even considered the Polish national chocolate brand.
In 1851, Karol Wedel opened his first store on Miodowa Street in Warsaw, where he offered drinking chocolate. Even then, its unique taste met with great success, and sales reached even 500 cups a day!
