Political Clash: Romanowski Responds to Bodnar’s Allegations

PiS MP Marcin Romanowski slams new charges from Poland’s prosecutor general, calling them a “political setup” and “persecution.” Read his response.

Polish Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar has moved to strip PiS MP Marcin Romanowski of his parliamentary immunity, seeking to bring new charges related to alleged irregularities in the Justice Fund. Romanowski dismissed the accusations, calling them a “political setup.” He argued that Bodnar’s actions contradict his own ministry’s stance, stating, “Bodnar as Prosecutor General wants to imprison me for 25 years for something he considers fully legal as justice minister.”

“A Political Stunt and Persecution”

Romanowski further claimed the charges were an attempt to distract from recent political embarrassments, including the Justice Ministry’s handling of a parliamentary inquiry. “This is another sham and setup that has nothing to do with justice,” he stated. He also alleged that evidence had been falsified and labeled the situation “a classic case of political persecution by an unlawful regime.” According to Romanowski, such actions are meant to provide “bread and circuses” for Bodnar’s supporters, but he remains confident that “every regime falls, especially one as incompetent as this.”
