Two Polish F-16 fighter jets will patrol the skies over Slovakia as part of the cooperation between the two countries’ air forces, Mariusz Blaszczak, the defence minister, said after a meeting with his Slovak counterpart Jaroslav Nad in Bratislava on Friday.
“We’re focused on security issues and to us, it is completely natural that an F-16 team will also patrol the skies over Slovakia,” Blaszczak said.
“The shifts will be carried out from Polish territory, but we have agreed that a Slovakian airfield will also be available just in case,” he added.
Slovakia is about to acquire its F-16 fighters, so the two countries “are talking about further cooperation” in the area, Blaszczak went on to say.
Poland and Slovakia cooperate within NATO, the EU, and the V4. They conduct many joint training and exercises, as well as jointly perform tasks faced by NATO members. #StrongerTogether #WeAreNato pic.twitter.com/5DH10XnFte
