Poland and Ukraine will 'stand together'

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has said Poland knows that if it was attacked that both countries would “stand together.”

At a press conference, in Kyiv, organised for Polish media, the Ukrainian leader spoke of the profound need to unite in the face of Russian aggression.

He pointed out that Poland certainly knows that if it were to be attacked, both countries would “stand together” and be strong in Europe, where they are also “together.”

He added that Europe requires unity and partnership so that even the small Baltic countries can feel safe in the face of danger.

The Ukrainian president also expressed gratitude to Poland and Poles for support for his country and the Ukrainian people.

He also thanked his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda and the First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda for their backing.

The Poles, said Zelensky, were making the Ukrainians feel at home, but he added that the refugees were “only guests” for the time being and would return home after the war.
