Labour Day in Poland: “A decent job is the pillar of a stable family”

On the occasion of today’s Labour Day, the head of government published a post on social media. “Decent, safe, well paid and honest work is one of the foundations of a healthy, democratic society and the pillar of a stable family,” Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki wrote on Sunday.

“Labour Day, the International Day of Workers’ Solidarity, has been celebrated since 1890. It is reminiscent of the demonstration of Chicago workers demanding what today seems to be normality and absolute basis – protection from layoffs and an 8-hour working day,” Morawiecki said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

He pointed out that today, for most Poles, 1 May is one of the holidays marking the beginning of a traditional long weekend.

“As we rest and celebrate, let us remember the history of that day and that decent, safe, well paid and honest work is one of the foundations of a healthy, democratic society and the pillar of a stable family,” the Prime Minister assured.
