Paweł Fajdek scored 81.27m in his second attempt, which is a new Diamond League record. The previous record holder was also a Pole – Wojciech Nowicki (81.25 in June in Paris). The five-time world champion simultaneously claimed his eighth victory in the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, which this year is included in the prestigious Diamond League series for the first time.

The women’s competition was won by Andersen. The world champion achieved her best result in the sixth attempt – 75.76m. Second place went to her compatriot Janee Kassanavoid – 74.89. Third in the Silesian Stadium was Malwina Kopron, who threw the hammer at 70.37 m in the first throw.
