“Beksiński created his paintings in constant contact with music. Among the composers he most often mentioned was Alfred Schnittke. Hence the idea to show Beksiński’s paintings in integral connection with music, which gives the viewer the possibility of a deepened emotional experience,” Beksiński Foundation wrote on Facebook.
“The World of Master Beksiński” is a unique artistic event organized by the Beksiński Foundation in cooperation with the Historical Museum in Sanok. It will take place on September 24 in Spodek Arena, Katowice, Silesia.
The concert “The World of Master Beksiński” is an extremely immersive and emotional experience. This is an event different from all others, promoting one of the most outstanding Polish painters, as well as promoting contemporary music, but given in such a way that is very attractive to the audience. An additional attraction to the concert is an exhibition of the artist’s paintings, which viewers can see before and after the concert.
The concert will be divided into two parts. In the first part of the concert, we will hear a contemporary piece “Sine Titulo” specially composed for the concert by conductor and music director Szymon Sutor. In the second part, however, we will hear Requiem by A. Schnittke combined with a presentation of images closely related to the drama of the music.
In addition, an exhibition of original specially selected paintings by Zdzisław Beksiński will be on display between the Spodek Arena and the International Congress Center. The exhibition can be viewed from 5:30 pm (entrance through the Spodek Arena) and after the concert until 10:30 pm.
