Poland’s President Andrzej Duda welcomed a new order for self-propelled howitzers produced in the country after it was signed off yesterday at a defence industry event in the city of Kielce.
President Andrzej Duda said the new order for 48 AHS Krab self-propelled howitzers was a step towards developing the Polish defence industry and further modernizing the country’s armed forces.
The contract with producer Huta Stalowa Wola for 3.8 billion zlotys ($797 million) adds to a previous order in 2016 for 96 of the same model, to be delivered by 2024.
Duda and Polish defence minister Mariusz Blaszczak also toured the trade show, speaking with representatives from Korean Aerospace Industries and Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar.
