The Poles did not surprise in their last group match in the EuroBasket. They decisively succumbed to Serbia 69:96 (14:28, 19:24, 17:20, 19:24), but they advanced to the next round from third place. In the quarter-final match, they will face Ukraine on Sunday.
Thursday’s meeting was not of great importance for both teams. Both the Serbs and the Poles had already secured their advancement to the 1/8 finals of the event a few days ago. At stake in the match were victory in Group D and a potentially weaker opponent in the next phase.
The white-and-reds did not finish the group phase of EuroBasket successfully, but they still ended up in the quarter-finals of the European basketball championships against a rival that is within their reach. They will face the national team of Ukraine. Victory is realistic, although our representatives would have to perform better than in Thursday’s clash with Serbia.
The Poles will play their quarter-final match in Berlin. Will the German capital be lucky for the Polish team? The match between Poland and Ukraine starts at 12:00 CET on Sunday (11 September).
