During the inauguration of ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Cup in Montreal on Sunday, Natalia Maliszewska won the silver medal in the 500m. Also, the other Polish representative Nikola Mazur was sixth. Eventually, the Polish relay team won the B final and was fifth.
It was Maliszewska’s 14th podium in the World Cup. She has taken the first place three times, second place four times, and third place seven times.

Xandra Velzeboer won the 500m. The 21-year-old led all the way to win the title in 42.123. The second place was taken by Natalia Maliszewska, and the third place was won by South Korea’s Shim Suk-hee.

Nikola Mazur also started the season with a good score. First, she charged in the quarter-finals, overtaking (temporarily) even Maliszewska. In the next round, she did not manage to qualify for a promotion, but she won the B final and was classified in the sixth position.
