[UPDATE] Temporary dam on the Polish-Russian border. MoD: Works to start today [VIDEO]

“I have decided to take measures to increase security on the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast. We will be building a temporary wall that will strengthen border protection. Work undertaken by sappers, and soldiers on the construction of a temporary barrier on the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast will begin today,” Deputy Prime Minister, head of the Ministry of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak told a press conference.

“The airport in the Kaliningrad Oblast has been opened for flights from the Middle East and North Africa and I have decided to take measures that will strengthen Poland’s security on the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast by sealing this border. Work undertaken by sappers, and soldiers on the construction of a temporary barrier on the border with the Kaliningrad region will begin today,” the Minister of National Defense stated today.

The politician pointed out that “the dam will consist of three rows of razor wire, which is used by militaries around the world.”

“Three layers, which will allow the construction of a temporary dam – the kind that was on the border with Belarus. It’s a dam 2.5 meters high, and 3 meters wide. There will also be a fence on the Polish side to protect animals. We are committed to making the border tight,” he stressed.

“There is no doubt that this temporary dam has resulted in the protection of the Polish-Belarusian border, prevented a hybrid attack from Belarusian territory or significantly slowed down this attack. We came to the conclusion that such a dam should be built on the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast,” he added.

The head of the Ministry of Defense also expressed hope that “now the opposition will not organize trips to the border with pizza, will not put pressure on Polish guards and soldiers.”
