7-Year-Old Polish Girl Killed in Ternopil. President Nawrocki Responds

President Karol Nawrocki spoke out after the death of a 7-year-old Polish girl and her mother, who were killed in a Russian attack on Ternopil. “I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones”, he stated.

On Wednesday morning, Russia attacked western Ukraine. The aggressor used more than 470 drones and nearly 50 missiles. Some of them struck Ternopil, hitting two residential buildings where fires broke out.

By Friday, the death toll from the attack on the city had risen to 31 – that day, rescuers recovered the bodies of three people from the rubble, including two children. Ninety-four people were injured. On the same day, the spokesperson for the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ) announced tragic news for Poland.

“During the night of 18 to 19 November, Russia attacked civilians in Ternopil. Among the victims of this atrocity is a 7-year-old Polish citizen – Amelka. She died during the night together with her mother”, said Maciej Wewiór.

He assured that the Polish diplomatic mission “remains in constant contact with the authorities of the Ternopil Oblast”.

Condolences from the President

President Karol Nawrocki commented on the tragic news in the evening. “It is with deep sorrow that I received the news of the death of 7-year-old Amelka, a Polish citizen who was killed in Ternopil together with her mother as a result of the barbaric Russian shelling of civilians”, he wrote.

“I extend my sincere condolences to the family and loved ones, remaining in prayer for the soul of the innocent child and her mother”, the president added.

Following the attack, 13 people are still considered missing.
