    The World Commemorates Poland’s Independence

    The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Szymon Szynkowski aka Sęk revealed that on November 11th the world’s 30 most famous buildings will be lit up in white and red colors to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence.

    Buildings and statues, such as Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, the pyramids of Egypt, one of the highest building in the world –  Burj Khalifa in the United Arab Emirates, The Eiffel Tower in France and many others will show their recognition by displaying a polish flag. Szynkowski aka Sęk announced that his ministry has arranged for foreigners to read a diplomatic dispatch of Marshal Piłsudski from November 16, 1918, in which Piłsudski informed the world about the Polish state regaining its independence. November 16th, as of 2009 is a day for the Foreign Service precisely because of this historical event.
