A stone obelisk commemorating the soldiers of the Home Army’s 7th Striking Cadre Battalion, commanded by Zbigniew Czarnocki ‘Czarny’ was destroyed in Belarus. On 20 September 1943, this unit fought a battle with the German gendarmerie near Stryeuka, losing 32 soldiers.
The names of most of the fallen were written on a plaque embedded in the obelisk. The fact of the mass burial did not stop vandals wearing the epaulettes of the Grodno KGB, who ordered Aleksandr Szyszko, chairman of the ‘Jeziory’ kolkhoz, on whose territory the soldiers’ mass grave is located, to destroy the commemoration so that no trace of it remained.

Yesterday (July 22), the editorial team of the Znadniemna website received confirmation of the desecration of the grave of AK soldiers in Stryeuka from the Polish ambassador to Belarus, Artur Michalski. Poland’s Ambassador to Belarus sent a photograph of the Polish consul general in Grodno, Andrzej Raczkowski, paying homage to the fallen soldiers at their commemoration site profaned by the Belarusian authorities.
Soldiers of the 7th Striking Cadre Battalion of the Home Army, commanded by Zbigniew Czarnocki ‘Czarny,’ died near Stryeuka in a battle with the German gendarmerie on 20 September 1943, during a march carried out on orders from the Home Army Headquarters to the territory of the Nowogródek District of the Home Army.
The monument on the grave of the Home Army soldiers was erected in 1992 through the efforts of the World Association of Home Army Soldiers with the support of the Council for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom Sites.
