Three new centres of scientific excellence to be created in Warsaw

Three new centers of scientific excellence “Dioscuri” are to be created in the capital of Poland as part of a competition organized for the second time by the National Science Center (NCN) in cooperation with the Max Planck society.

The three centres – according to PAP – which will be research groups, are to be headed by the winners of the second Dioscuri competition – Pawel Dlotko, Gracjan Michlewski and Bartlomiej Waclaw – who were chosen out of 24 contestants. The three centre leaders will start building their research groups in the second half of 2020. Although they represent different fields of research, the three leaders’ scientific career paths look similar: after receiving a doctorate in Poland they went abroad to do a post-doctoral internship at a renowned research facility.
