Mariusz Blaszczak, Poland’s defence minister, declared on Tuesday that exercises involving the Patriot anti-missile system in Warsaw serve as a deterrent to any potential attackers.

Crews are receiving instruction on the Patriot batteries at Babice airfield near Warsaw as part of the exercises.

Blaszczak, at Babice to inspect the exercise, said the training included moving and setting up the Patriot system and practice in coordinating its elements.

“This exercise is meant as a deterrent, a display of the Polish Army’s combat readiness,”

    Blaszczak said.

He said that a band of troops will travel to America this week in order to get more education on the system, including lessons on combat control.
