Finland has been joined by Poland, France, and Croatia in providing a reserve of supplies from the European Union (rescEU) intended to defend people against potential chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) dangers and catastrophes.
The European Commission is taking action in order to be better prepared for potential public health threats by forming a stockpile of emergency supplies through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
The reserve includes items such as medicines, vaccines, and other drugs to help those affected by CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear) incidents, as well as decontamination supplies and personnel who are knowledgeable in responding to such situations.
Individuals may come across CBRN agents due to unintentional incidents like a chemical spill, nuclear power plant issues, or the spread of a contagious illness; or they can be exposed because of deliberate acts like a terrorist attack.
