Poles are eager to spend the upcoming long May weekend away from home, with bookings on Noclegi.pl and Nocowanie.pl websites more than doubling compared to last year. Although the long May holiday ‘calendar’ allows for more travel, people are still looking for affordable options, with plenty of offers still available.
All indications are that the domestic tourism industry can count on a lot of traffic during the long May weekend.
The May calendar is indeed shaping up favourably for lovers of extended weekends. It is enough to take one day off from work to ensure a five-day rest. If someone takes three days off, the long May holiday can last even nine days. However, few tourists will make the most of this time. Mainly because of the prices.
It is definitely more expensive than last year, with the average price per person per night for establishments across the country increasing year-on-year by 33% from PLN 92.91 to PLN 123.58. Shortening bookings is a way to get away without straining the household budget. The average length of a holiday has decreased from 2.93 to 2.61 nights. Hence, despite the price increase, the average value of bookings made is only 4.7% higher than last year.
Those who have not yet decided on a holiday still have plenty to choose from. Also in the most popular destinations. The first places on the search list are invariably occupied by Karpacz, Zakopane and Szklarska Poreba.
