During a meeting with his Albanian counterpart in Tirana on Thursday, President Andrzej Duda announced that Poland is endorsing Albania’s efforts to become a member of the European Union. This statement indicates Poland’s support for Albania’s bid to join the EU.
President Andrzej Duda, accompanied by his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda, is currently on an official visit to the Balkan country. As part of his visit, President Duda held a meeting with Albanian President Bajram Begaj on Thursday.
“Once again, I clearly and distinctly declared Polish support for Albania’s efforts to join the European Union,”
said President Duda.
President Andrzej Duda also emphasized that the inclusion of Albania, Ukraine, and Moldova as members of the European Union is a key priority for Poland’s upcoming EU presidency, which is set to commence in the first half of 2025.
Expressing his gratitude, the Polish President conveyed his appreciation to Albania for its unwavering support towards Ukraine, including the contribution of Albanian soldiers on NATO’s eastern flank.
Following his meeting with the Albanian leader, President Duda made a statement highlighting the need for increased support from Albania towards strengthening the North Atlantic Alliance’s presence on NATO’s eastern flank. President Duda emphasized the importance of this region, which is considered one of the most dangerous regions in the world, with the possibility of potential aggression, especially in light of the situation in Ukraine and Russia’s attitude towards it.
