Starting from July 1st, 2023, Poland’s minimum wage will be raised to 3,600 PLN, accompanied by an hourly rate of 23.50 PLN. This marks the second increase in minimum wage within the year. Presently, the minimum wage is 19.6% higher compared to the lowest wage of 2022.
According to the legislation on minimum wage, if the forecasted Consumer Price Index for the following year reaches at least 105%, two changes in minimum wage and hourly rates are established: on January 1st and July 1st. In January 2023, the minimum wage increased to 3,490 PLN gross, followed by the recent rise to 3,600 PLN from July 1st. Simultaneously, the minimum hourly rate increased from 22.80 PLN to 23.50 PLN.
Proportional Growth and Estimates
Based on estimates by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, the minimum wage will be 19.6% higher from July 2023 compared to the lowest wage in 2022. Furthermore, in comparison to 2015, the minimum wage has increased by 105.7%, with a value of 1,750 PLN at that time.
As of July 1st, 2023, the new minimum gross rates for specific healthcare professions are as follows: specialist doctors will earn 9,201.92 PLN (an increase of 991.25 PLN), nursing specialists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, laboratory diagnosticians with specialization, and clinical psychologists will earn 8,186.53 PLN (an increase of 881.87 PLN), non-specialized doctors will earn 7,551.92 PLN (an increase of 813.51 PLN), and medical interns will earn 6,028.84 PLN (an increase of 649.44 PLN).
