Johnny’s paternal grandmother, Joan Gertrude Duda, adds another layer to his Polish heritage. She was the daughter of Joseph Duda and Julia B. Ostrowski (sometimes spelled Ostrowska). Joan was also born in Pennsylvania, and Joseph Duda’s origins can be traced to Jaroslaw, Dolnoslaskie, Poland. Joseph was the son of Blazej Duda and Julia Gwozdz, making Johnny’s lineage a testament to the enduring Polish heritage within his family.
