A high-ranking foreign policy advisor to the Polish president has accused the previous government of endangering the country’s security through its “pro-Russian” policies. Marcin Przydacz, the head of the president’s International Policy Bureau, made these assertions during a recent interview with state-owned radio, where he discussed the findings unveiled in the TVP Info documentary titled ‘Reset.’
Przydacz’s allegations revolve around Donald Tusk, the current leader of the opposition and former Prime Minister during the Civic Platform-Polish People’s Party government. According to Przydacz, Tusk’s government authorized Poland’s Military Counterintelligence Service to collaborate with Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB). This revelation, he argued, sheds light on the extent of the previous government’s pro-Russia stance.
During the interview, Przydacz emphasized the documentary’s significance, noting that it presented evidence in the form of signed contracts and transcripts of conversations between the Polish government and Moscow. He described these findings as “shocking” and urged the public to recognize the extent of the previous administration’s alignment with Moscow. He asserted that these policies “put Poland’s security at risk” and clarified that they explained the seemingly unfavourable gas contracts negotiated by then Deputy Prime Minister Waldemar Pawlak, which bound Poland to Russian gas supplies for over a decade, prompting intervention by the European Commission.
