Saryusz-Wolski: Discussion with Germans is a waste of time. ‘In their point of view, the compromise means concession’

We have to talk with Portugal which starts its presidency in four weeks. We should not waste time talking with the German presidency. European Commission has started working on the twelfth system because it is obvious that there will not be an agreement in December this year. Then, Slovenia will begin its presidency. Prime Minister of Slovenia Janez Janša supported Polish-Hungarian veto – said Member of the European Parliament Jacek Saryusz-Wolski in program #Jedziemy on TVP Info. He was a guest of editor Michał Rachoń.

Legal Services of the European Council have no doubts that connecting the EU budget with the rule of law is illegal. The opinion was made at the end of October 2018, but its content was classified. MEP Saryusz-Wolski revealed some fragments of this document.

‘This document was classified and was revealed just on the 25th of November, so it means it was two weeks after the announcement of veto by Poland and Hungary. I knew this document, but I did not have access to it. It is the second opinion which provides that connecting the rule of law with EU budget is illegal and inconsistent with Treaties’ – said MEP Saryusz-Wolski in program #Jedziemy.

According to him, there is no point in wasting time for talks with the German presidency.
