Let’s help and see those who need our help but rarely ask for it; don’t be afraid of disability – appealed the presidential couple Andrzej Duda and Agata Kornhauser-Duda on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
On Thursday (3 Dec 2020) we celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The video has appeared on the Chancellery of the President’s website.
The First Lady emphasised that 3rd December is the day for everyone who deals with any disability in daily life.
President pointed out that among disabled there are not only our close friends, colleagues, neighbours but also our relatives.
‘All of them very often fight against stereotypes, prejudices and overcome barriers which seem to be insurmountable’ – said Andrzej Duda.
The First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda also emphasised that she did not know somebody who has never met with a disabled person. She said that during previous years she ‘had a chance to talk with hundreds and thousands of disabled people’.
‘I often had a feeling that the blind can see more, deaf hear more carefully, physically disabled surprised with the ability and intellectual disabled explore in life what is really important – love and respect to another man’ – he emphasised.
‘There are many issues to do. These are challenges which we wish to meet. Each voice in this respect will be a motivation for me to talk and to change more and more in our country’ – said, President Duda.
Agata Kornhauser-Duda pinpointed that this International Day of Persons with Disabilities during the pandemic is of particular importance.
‘Let’s help and see those who need our help but rarely ask for it. Don’t be afraid of disability. The indifference is much worse than kindness and openness’
The President appealed to encourage the ‘ideas of using all human rights and freedom by all the disabled people’. ‘Ladies and gentlemen, we are with you’ – added the First Lady.
