    President Duda Commends Patriotic Polish Diaspora During Vancouver Visit

    During his recent trip to Vancouver, President Andrzej Duda expressed profound gratitude to the Polish diaspora, highlighting their pivotal role in Poland’s international affairs. Emphasizing their unwavering support, President Duda credited the Polish community for Poland’s membership in NATO, asserting its significance in preserving freedom and sovereignty.

    “Our presence in the North Atlantic Alliance and our status as a beacon of freedom are indebted to your steadfast support,”

    President Duda affirmed.

    Addressing the sizable Polish population abroad, particularly in Canada where over a million Polish individuals reside, President Duda acknowledged their diverse perspectives and religious affiliations. However, he emphasized the common bond forged by shared Polish heritage and collective historical consciousness.

    “Despite differing viewpoints, our unity stems from our shared identity and historical legacy,”

    President Duda declared.

    President Duda also commended Canada’s recognition of Polish Heritage Month, underscoring the community’s substantial contributions to Canadian society.

    Against the backdrop of global challenges, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, President Duda expressed confidence in Poland’s resilience and thanked the Canadian Polish community for their advocacy in Poland’s NATO accession.

    “Despite the turbulent times facing Europe, we remain resolute. Your advocacy has reinforced our position in the North Atlantic Alliance,”

    President Duda acknowledged.

    Before his statements, President Duda honoured the heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, commemorating their sacrifice at the Holocaust Memorial and the grave of Jakub Chaim Kaliski, a prominent figure in the Canadian Polish community.

    “As we commemorate the bravery of those who fought against tyranny, we recognize the enduring spirit of resistance,”

    President Duda reflected.
