In the first quarter of 2024, the average gross monthly wage in Poland saw a substantial increase of 14.4% compared to the previous year, reaching 8,147.38 PLN, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). This marks a rise of 607.02 PLN from the fourth quarter of 2023 and a year-on-year increase of 1,023.12 PLN from the first quarter of 2023.

The previous quarter’s average wage stood at 7,540.36 PLN, showcasing a significant quarterly improvement. When comparing year-on-year data, the increase from 7,124.26 PLN in Q1 2023 to 8,147.38 PLN in Q1 2024 underscores the robust wage growth in the Polish economy.
From January 1, 2024, the minimum gross wage in Poland has been set at 4,242 PLN, with an hourly rate of 27.70 PLN. Additionally, a mid-year adjustment will raise the minimum wage to 4,300 PLN and the hourly rate to 28.10 PLN starting in July.
GUS calculates the average gross monthly wage by considering various components, including gross personal wages, specific employee bonuses, profit-sharing payouts in cooperatives, and additional annual bonuses for public sector employees. This calculation excludes those working abroad or performing piecework.
