Today, June 14th, marks the start of the UEFA EURO 2024 final tournament. The Polish national team will play their first match against the Netherlands on Sunday, June 16th. Ensuring the safety of Polish fans are 34 experienced police officers already on the ground.
Coordination and Preparation
The officers come from the National Information Point for Sports Events and work closely with their German counterparts, exchanging information on potential threats. The International Police Cooperation Center (IPCC) in Neuss will be operational throughout the tournament.
Polish Delegation
The Polish delegation consists of 14 officers in the IPCC and mobile teams, along with 20 additional officers focusing on preventive and criminal activities. They are equipped with language skills and extensive experience in securing sports events.
Ensuring Fan Safety
Poland will play three group stage matches, with tickets for Polish fans already sold out. Increased rail services are planned to accommodate the anticipated influx of fans. The Poland-Austria match in Berlin is expected to draw tens of thousands of Polish supporters, presenting a significant security challenge that the Polish police are prepared to handle.
