    Fire Sirens to Sound Nationwide in Poland Today at 6 PM

    Poland’s fire sirens will sound at 6 PM to honor two firefighters killed in a Poznań rescue operation.

    Today at 6 PM, fire sirens will sound in all State Fire Service (PSP) units across Poland to honor two firefighters who lost their lives during a rescue operation in Poznań, announced the spokesperson of the PSP Command, Senior Brigadier Karol Kierzkowski. This tribute will be joined by both State and Volunteer Fire Services, as a mark of respect for their fallen colleagues.

    Tragic Incident in Poznań

    The incident occurred overnight from Saturday to Sunday when a fire and explosion broke out in a tenement building on Kraszewskiego Street in Poznań. Eleven firefighters were injured during the operation, and two were initially reported missing. Prime Minister Donald Tusk later confirmed that the two missing firefighters had died.

    “This is our tradition when our comrades pass away,” Kierzkowski stated, encouraging participation from all fire organizations and those who feel connected to the cause. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Wiesław Leśniakiewicz confirmed that the bodies of the deceased firefighters are undergoing forensic examination, emphasizing the swift efforts made to recover them.
