Polish Paralympians Shine in Paris with Gold in Table Tennis

Polish table tennis players Patryk Chojnowski and Piotr Grudzień secured a gold medal in the men’s doubles (MD18) at the Paralympic Games in Paris. Their outstanding performance led them to a 3:0 victory against China’s Chaodong Liu and Yiqing Zhao in the final, with set scores of 13:11, 11:8, and 11:7. This win marks the sixth medal for the Polish team at the event, and their third gold.

    Other Notable Achievements

In the preceding days, swimmer Kamil Otowski added two gold medals to Poland’s tally, triumphing in the 50m and 100m backstroke (S1). Additionally, three bronze medals were won: Lech Stoltman in shot put (F55), and two table tennis bronzes by Karolina Pęk and Piotr Grudzień in mixed doubles (XD17), and Pęk alongside Natalia Partyka in women’s doubles (WD20).

However, not all news was positive for Team Poland. Róża Kozakowska, who initially won the club throw (F32), was disqualified after it was discovered she used non-regulation equipment. An appeal by the Polish team was rejected, casting a shadow over her victory.
