Poland and Finland discuss hybrid threats from Russia and Belarus, agreeing to closer military cooperation and unified security strategies.
During President Alexander Stubb’s first official visit to Poland, he met with Polish President Andrzej Duda to discuss critical security issues. The talks centered on hybrid threats from Belarus and Russia, particularly regarding pressures on NATO’s eastern borders and ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine. The leaders held one-on-one talks and led plenary sessions with their delegations.
Closer Military Cooperation and Joint Exercises
President Duda emphasized Finland’s recent NATO membership and the importance of deepening military cooperation. He invited Finland to increase its involvement in joint military exercises like “Dragon” and “Anakonda” and to collaborate through the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Centre (JATEC) in Bydgoszcz. Both nations are also addressing the challenge of illegal migration from Belarus and Russia, sharing strategies to combat these threats.
Unified Approach Against Russian Aggression
Duda and Stubb reaffirmed a shared stance on Russia’s aggressive actions, highlighting the importance of unity and the exchange of security expertise. Both leaders committed to further strengthening defense interoperability between their armed forces.
