Unfulfilled Promises: Government Fails to Deliver on Tax-Free Threshold

The Civic Coalition (Koalicja Obywatelska) promised to increase the tax-free allowance to 60,000 PLN within the first 100 days of taking office. However, nearly ten months after Donald Tusk’s return to power, the promise remains unmet, and recent reports suggest it has been quietly abandoned.

During the election campaign, the Civic Coalition pledged this increase as one of their 100 specific goals for the initial 100 days of governance. Despite assurances of “the most radical tax cuts,” the failure to deliver has not gone unnoticed by the public. A July 2024 survey revealed that 53.5% of respondents believe the government is not fulfilling its electoral promises. The much-anticipated tax relief appears to have been shelved, leaving many Poles feeling misled.
